Conscientiously implemented procedures will avoid pitfalls leading to delays.
The delays in the arrival of imports whether consigned as sea or airfreight are
usually due in part to the lack of a properly functioning system to expedite the
dispatch of the goods ordered and the shipping documents relating thereto by the
respective suppliers.
The absence of clearly defined
instructions to the overseas forwarders and suppliers, results in the importer
and the appointed clearing agent not receiving timeously copy-shipping
documents, which serve as an advance notification of the dispatch of the
shipment.
In the event of such document not being received, it is understandable that both
the importer and the clearing agent, will be unaware of the progress being
registered in respect of a specific shipment.
